It has been revealed that more and more homeowners are opting for green home insurance.
Such policies have increased because shopping for environmental home cover has become less difficult and complex. There are also financial benefits.
More property owners are asking their insurers to upgrade their homes to green standards, according to Christian Carter, an insurance provider.
Mr Carter, stated: "It’s not very widespread as of yet, but it is an issue."
He added that those who wish to make their homes greener in the future can also choose coverage that, in the event of a loss, will pay for rebuilding their home with a growing list of environmentally-friendly products.
There are two types of green homeowner cover. The first type of policy is for buildings that already meet specific efficiency and sustainability standards, while the second type of cover provides the choice to replace any losses incurred on the property with more environmentally-friendly materials.
David Bishop, a home insurer, said: "It's a way consumers can show their environmental stewardship as well by rebuilding environmentally friendly homes if the need ever arises."
Many expect the green trend in insurance to increase and become permanent and more expansive as numerous carriers will now adjust losses when a client upgrades to a higher-efficiency appliance.
