What is voluntary excess?

This is the sum, that you agree with your insurer, that you will pay for any claim you make against your policy, and your insurer will be responsible for the rest. The amount this is will vary depending on your insurer, you can keep your policy price down by agreeing to a larger voluntary excess though.
